Commitment to Justice

The Justice and Reconciliation Team exists to fulfill the mandate of Scripture to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.  The team specifically pursues justice initiatives in two areas: (1) seeking racial justice and harmony; and (2) fighting against human trafficking.  Team members commit to one of these areas, and actively engage in ways to raise awareness, to advocate, and to take practical action in confronting unjust systems and providing care to victims.  In working to see and serve the overlooked and oppressed, the Team will become a healing presence in the community that points to Jesus Christ and the compassion of the Kingdom of God.

The Justice and Reconciliation Team is co-led by

  • Racial Reconciliation

The Racial Reconciliation team hopes to be a group that (1) leads by example, (2) lovingly confronts racially unjust systems and those that wittingly or unwittingly wish to maintain them, and (3) supports and shepherds those in our congregation and throughout our circles of influence who are fighting through ignorance and/or unforgiveness.

The team is starting to work on projects that they hope will utilize their different skills and perspectives to do God's work in this area! There is always room for new ideas, new perspectives, and new passions.

  • Anti-Human Trafficking and Victim Care

The goal of the Anti-Human Trafficking ministry is to come alongside of organizations that are already involved with one or more areas of this cause and support them as a congregation. Vineyard church members volunteer at different events hosted by these organizations in addition to catering to the needs of the survivors and also supporting the initiatives of these organizations.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
